Desktop images

After you grant macOS screen-recording permission, the app captures desktop images to render live gravitational lensing. Images are processed only in memory. They are not saved as images or videos, sent to the developer, or uploaded over the network. The app does not record microphone or system audio. You can revoke screen-recording permission in System Settings under Privacy & Security. Without permission, the timer still works and uses a procedural starfield instead of your desktop.

Local records and settings

Focus and rest sessions, timer durations, appearance settings, language, and other preferences stay on your Mac. There is no app account, developer backend, or built-in cloud sync. The free version retains local history, which becomes viewable with Pro. Clear statistics in the statistics window deletes all session records and cannot be undone. Device backups may contain copies of local data; you and macOS control those backups.

Purchases and restoration

Optional Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase handled by Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. The app checks verified Apple transaction entitlements to enable Pro and supports restoring purchases. Apple handles payments; the developer does not receive your full payment-card details. Purchases, restoration, and entitlement checks may contact Apple through system services and are subject to Apple’s privacy policy.

Analytics and tracking

The app has no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not track activity across other apps or websites or collect desktop content, focus records, or usage activity for developer servers. macOS and App Store diagnostics and sharing options are managed by Apple and your system settings.

External links

The science articles and experiments run offline in the app. References and other external links open in your browser only when you choose them. The destination website’s privacy policy applies to those visits.

Contacting support

If you email support, the developer receives your email address and the information you choose to send and uses it to handle your request. Avoid sending passwords, payment information, or screenshots containing private desktop content. To request deletion of a support email you sent, contact unlinearity@gmail.com.
